Before You Start
Complete this upgrade from the Windows workstation where LegalFiles Office or Acrobat integration is used.
Close Office and Acrobat
Exit Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and any open LegalFiles windows before uninstalling or installing plug-ins.
Use Current Workstation Media
Download or copy the latest LegalFiles workstation installation media from the current link provided by MFLEX IT.
Clear Browser Cache Before Opening LegalFiles
You must clear browser cache before opening the LegalFiles page after the plug-in upgrade.

Open your browser cache clearing window.
In the browser, press and hold
Ctrl + Shift + Deleteon your keyboard. -
Change the time range to All time.
Use the drop-down at the top of the window and select All time.

Select cached images and files.
Check Cached images and files. You do not need to clear saved passwords.

Clear the cache.
Click Clear now or Delete data, depending on your browser.

Open the secure LegalFiles page.
Go to https://LF.mflex.com/MyLegalFiles/ after cache clearing is complete.
Uninstall the Old LegalFiles Plug-ins
Remove the previous Office and Acrobat add-ins before installing the current workstation package.

Close all related applications.
Exit all Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, and LegalFiles windows.

Open installed apps.
Open Windows Settings, go to Apps, then Installed apps. You can also use Control Panel if your Windows version shows the older Programs and Features view.

Uninstall old Legal Files entries.
Search for Legal Files and uninstall the old Legal Files MSO Client Tools. Also uninstall the old Legal Files Acrobat add-in if it is installed.

Restart the computer.
Restart Windows after uninstalling the older plug-ins, then sign back in before installing the new version.
Install the LegalFiles Office Plug-in
The Office plug-in installs the LegalFiles add-ins for Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Legal Files Drop Zone.
ClientTools4.X - Office 2016 or Greater - Current Feature Set folder or the latest equivalent folder provided by IT.

Open the workstation installation media.
Download or copy the current LegalFiles workstation folder to your computer.

Run setup as administrator.
Open the current Client Tools folder, right-click
setup.exe, then select Run as administrator.

Select the connection type.
Select Web/HTTP, then click Next.

Accept the installation folder.
Use the default installation folder unless IT instructed you to use a different location, then click Next.

Select Office components.
Select the Microsoft Office applications you use with LegalFiles, then click Next.

Confirm and complete the installation.
Click Next on the confirmation screen. When installation completes, click Close.

Verify the installed version.
Open Windows Settings, go to Apps, then Installed apps. Confirm Legal Files MSO Client Tools shows the version provided by IT.

Install the Acrobat Add-in, If Needed
This section is only for users with the full Adobe Acrobat application.

Prepare Acrobat.
Open Acrobat, go to Preferences, then Security (Enhanced). Uncheck Enable Protected Mode at startup and Enable Enhanced Security, then close Acrobat.

Run the Acrobat add-in installer.
In the workstation media, open the
LFWEBACROfolder, then open the folder that matches your Acrobat bit version. Right-clickSetup.exe, choose Run as administrator, and accept the defaults. -
Verify the Acrobat button.
Open Acrobat and confirm the Legal Files button appears.
Configure the LegalFiles Connection
After the plug-in installs, configure Outlook Classic to connect to the secured MFLEX LegalFiles URL.

Open Outlook Classic.
Open Outlook in Classic mode. The Legal Files Web tab may not appear in New Outlook.

Open the connection settings.
Click the Legal Files Web tab, then click Connection.

Enter the connection settings.
Use these settings: Connection Type: App Profile; Web/HTTP address: https://LF.mflex.com/MyLegalFiles/; check Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL); User Authentication Type: Login.

Sign in and test.
Enter the same User ID and password you use for the LegalFiles website, click Test Connection, then click OK after the test succeeds.
Troubleshooting
Use these checks if the Legal Files Web tab or connection does not work after installation.
The Legal Files Web tab does not appear in Outlook
Open Outlook in Classic mode. Go to File, Options, Add-ins. In the Manage section, choose COM Add-ins, then click Go.
Check LFWEBSO, then click OK.
The connection test fails
- Confirm the URL is exactly https://LF.mflex.com/MyLegalFiles/.
- Confirm Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is checked.
- Confirm the User ID and password are the same credentials used for the LegalFiles website.
- Clear browser cache again, then reopen the LegalFiles page.
The installed version is different from the screenshot
This is expected when MFLEX IT publishes a newer LegalFiles plug-in. The screenshots are examples. Use the current version provided by IT and verify that the installed Legal Files MSO Client Tools version matches the current workstation media.
